Hanoi Jane is at it again. Not content with what was at the very least disrespect to the soldiers who served in Viet Nam, now she’s decided that it’s her mission to protest the war in Iraq. "I have not taken a stand on any war since Vietnam," she said. Yeah. Those were some good years.
So who the hell is Jane to decide whether a war is right or wrong? She’s an ACTRESS. Her most famous role was a stripper. Not exactly the credentials of your average world leader. But somewhere along the line the Hollyweird set decided that they know what’s best for the world. Leaving the fate of humanity in the hands of people who escape reality for a living is, well, terrifying.
Next, let’s go so far as to imagine that she really, truly, wholeheartedly believes that the war in Iraq is a bad thing and that she actually took time out from her workout routine to become accurately informed on the matter. (I know, its a stretch.) Remembering at least one American POW was tortured because he openly refuted her statement that treatment of prisoners by North Vietnamese was "humane and lenient", would a person of true compassion not think twice, but maybe three or four times about the consequences of her protest actions?
Apparently not. Lady Jane (a nickname she hates, so I use it with glee) has just announced she is planning a cross-country bus tour to call for an end to the war in Iraq. She won’t let out any more details, except to say that it will be “very exciting”. Oh, I’m sure it will. Nothing is more exciting than one of the rich and famous mindlessly touting a cause they know nothing about. More likely the sale of her book "My Life So Far" hasn't generated the attention she craves (outside of that little spitting incident, which didn't really put her in a good light) and now she's falling back on the only thing she's ever been famous for.
What, for instance, does Lady Jane suggest we do? Immediately pull our troops out of Iraq and just let things take their course? Does she think that the whole matter will just work itself out? Of course not ... once you move past knee jerk emotion to actual reasoning, its becomes apparent that Iraq would be overrun by insurgents, who will then continue to train terrorists, who will come and kill Americans. But hey, peace at all costs, right?
Whether or not you agree with the war in Iraq (and for the record, I do), the bottom line is that we have no choice to but finish the job. The consequences to American safety, much less Iraqi, are too great.
On the up side, there's always the chance that Lady Jane will reenact her Viet Nam photo opp with a suicide bomber who's got an itchy detonation finger.

Her book about her sexploits and her vagina shirts haven't garnered her the attention???? Geez, now she's gotta try to be serious - what a shame.
"On the up side, there's always the chance that Lady Jane will reenact her Viet Nam photo appearance with an insurgent suicide bomber. "
See, the (north) Vietnamese were smart enough to guarantee her safety as she traveled around taking pictures. They knew she was worth far more to them in that role.
I don't think the 'insurgents' are that smart. They'd kill her and defile her and whatever all, which would serve to turn a few lefties into righties.
Like osama's latest plot I heard about to ship poisoned cocaine into the US. Who is that going to piss off? Probably the left far more than the right, I'd guess most drug addicts dont vote Republican. Oh well, poison cocaine would probably get rid of Tim Robbins and Sean Penn, so that wouldn't be all bad.
I also think Lady Jane is just _barely_ smart enough to know this; that she was safe traveling in the jungles of nam, but wouldn't be in downtown falluja.
